    In preparation

I will be starting a new chapter in my life in the next few weeks. On October 5th, 2008 I will leave my home in Reston, VA and journey to San Carlos, Costa Rica. I have decided to end my tenure as a professional nanny. I need some transition time between leaving the kids I love so much and figuring out what exactly I am going to do with the rest of my life!

I have decided that volunteer work would be a nice way to explore and also do some good while I figure things out. I will be working with an excellent organization call Cross Cultural Solutions while in Costa Rica. CCS has locations all around the world, but I was drawn to Costa Rica for several reason and I am so excited my choice. I will continue to work with children (but in community setting, rather than with a particular family) and I will be immersed in a Spanish speaking country. I will be surrounded by some of the most spectacular sites on this side of the world (Rain Forests, Cloud Forests, Volcanoes, and many beautiful beaches). I hope to share my love, experience and knowledge of teaching with these children, their families and community, and also share my passion for protecting nature. Children and the Earth... our two most precious resources.

I, of course, will have many adventures outside of my volunteer job in San Carlos. When I have free time I will be exploring the local community, learning as much Spanish as possible, and taking as many pictures of all the glorious people, places, and beautiful creatures I encounter. I hope to hike volcanoes, ride zip lines through cloud forests, learn to surf, dance with new friends, share my personal stories, and learn and grow as I go.

I will be posting pictures regularly to keep all my family, friends, and curious on-lookers abreast of my activities. I hope to share the stories of the people I meet and the places I visit. I will also share my thoughts on CCS and my job(s). I will hopefully come to some conclusions as to what I will be doing NEXT!

Thanks to all for your support for this trip and all your love!
